End of the year blog post

So for the second time in two years, I'm sitting in front of a computer in the school library typing up some BS year end blog post where I'm supposed to reflect on how I did over the course of the semester. And truth be told, I still think that I should NOT HAVE TO SIT IN FRONT OF A BLOODY COMPUTER FOR PE.
But I can't change how Mr.neuf does things, so let's get this over with ASAP.

The first pillar that we can find on Mr.Neuf's blog (http://teacherneufs.blogspot.ca/) is the pillar of participation (Saying it like that reminds me of the the pillar of autum). This category is entirely based off of what Pe should actually be solely marked on, that being skill, participation in activities, bringing gym strip, and encouraging others amongst other things.
For this semester, I'm going to say that in this category I got an A, say 92% to be specific. I say this because I participated in every activity as much as I felt up to on that given day, more than the amount of effort that I was willing to put into that activity. I brought gym strip everyday save once and I encouraged others when I saw an opportunity. If you don't believe me for that Neuf, feel free to ask either Kabir (the tall one) or Hemat. I encouraged both of them a lot on fitness days, and I'm hoping that they are willing to vouch for me. I think in this category what would hold me down is the fact that I'm horrible at sports, so my mark for the pillar would drop solely for lack of skill.
So if we keep that mark for this pillar as is, that equates to 23% percent for my overall mark.

The next pillar is "Social responsibility and Contribution to class"... This one doesn't remind me of any video games, the title is too long.
As far as this pillar goes, I feel that I got 80%. I helped with equipment for our class whenever I got the chance (There are a lot of other people who help out, sometime there is nothing to grab for the class), and I try to help out with leadership whenever possible, though I will say that taking a role of leadership isn't easy when Mr.Neuf sets someone specific in charge, such as Kabeer or Jag. But when I did get the chance, a good example that comes to mind was tchoukball, I do my best to lead in such a way that everyone has a good time and the game gets underway quickly.  The only reason my mark for this pillar drops is because I didn't lead as often as I would have liked to, and I didn't always help with equipment.
So if I got 80% here, that translates into another 20% for my overall mark. Keep that in mind.

The next pillar we have the joy of reading is the pillar for Healthy living. Can you hear the kids in the background? All those kids crying out "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY"? No? That's because this pillar is just as stupid as the blog itself. This pillar kinda confuses me, so I'm going to copy paste this pillar from neufs blog to here as both a reference for me and a reference for you.
3) Healthy Living - this category includes all aspects of your past, current, and future data and goals on your health and fitness. Some of the things to consider would include: your actual fitness scores compared to others and what they teach you, noteworthy changes in your fitness, some of the barriers/limitations you face in participating, dietary choices and extra curricular activity choices and their impact on overall health, injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation, and future plans/goals for overall health choices. This is the connecting piece between class and life… if you have no evidence of choices/activities outside of class you should be failing this section. One major focus should be evidence of choices that specifically relate to the body goal you set. If you have never worked at your goal outside of class you should not be passing this section.
Ah, yes. This one. Eh, for this pillar I'm going to venture off a cliff and say I got 40%. I say that because I really don't have much proof other than those absolutely fantastically horrible videos. Which, I just fixed with the help of Fisher. Thanks Fisher! You should be able to watch them here now, so go check them out. NOW.
So I didn't really monitor anything that I did outside of school, because I do nothing outside of school that relates to my goal. Like, literally nothing. Unless my step-dad asks me to help him build a workbench for his workspace in the basement. But, that doesn't really improve my upper body strength.
I did nothing to change my eating habits, I'm fine with them, even though I know that they are the best of eating habits. If you watch the videos, you'll see I even included evidence of me not giving a crap and eating 10 brownies in a day. Because they were good brownies. And you know what? I don't even feel bad. They were good brownies. My sister made them. And I liked them. So I ate them.
No Remorse.
Oh, wait, 40% is equivalent to 10% for my overall mark. That needs to be included.

And now we get to the fun part. Or pillar. Whatever.
This 4th and final pillar is for our blog. ya, this thing that when you're reading right now. This boring thing that for some reason you're taking the time out of your life to sit and read.
For our blog we were supposed to have a ton of posts by now, have proof and evidence of the things we did in PE, and comment on other peoples' blogs in our class. And I did none of that. I have I believe 7 posts of the recommended 30, 4 videos, no pictures, and I haven't commented on anyone else's blogs. So really, because I have done a bit of work, I'm going to say that I got, meh, let's go with 32% here. Honestly, unlike the other pillars, there's really not that much for me to talk about here, because I just didn't care enough to do the blog.
So, 32% = 8% for my mark. Let's do some math shall we?

23+20+10+8= 61%
Well, there you have it. I need a mark, and that's my mark right there. I believe that to be a C, but I don't know.
That's all I needed to do. I have a mark, a percentage along with it, and a blog to accompany it all.
Thank you for reading people, I hope you enjoyed wasting your life reading this, have a good day, and this will be my very last post. Bye!

  1. Ha. You don't fool me anymore. Thanks for being awesome in class and always being kind to those less "able" than you and sarcastic with those who are. Your videos let people see your eyes (the window to soul as some say) and those eyes sell you out. Anyone with experience working with people can see your passion, energy, friendships and humour. I think you DO have some growing up to do but perhaps not the way you might expect your stupid PE teacher to say. Your videos (I watched them all the way through) and your blog were not a waste of my time at all. In fact, they had me smiling and laughing.. and they are examples of the very reason I teach. I would NOT be a teacher if it was just about teaching curriculum and grading. Imagine how horribly boring and uninspiring that would be? Teaching a bunch of immature, lazy, rude teenagers random facts and seeing if they can memorize them? No thanks. I teach because I like being around people. I like getting to know them, the real them… the people behind the mask. I like learning about differences and connecting the similarities. I like working with others to make myself a better version of me… and in turn maybe helping them do the same. I like feeling you express in your face during your videos (like after the frolf) of having shared an effort and experience with others even when it is a "failure". If I didn't do blogs I would never get to find out where Neeha is from or how her family is changing it's eating habits together to help her dad live longer. I would never get to help Puneet with her new desire to exercise after doing nothing in grade 8/9. I would never see the photos of Seray competing in the synchro swimming nationals. I would never get the chance to hear from each kid how they feel about being in my class, doing fitness, working with each other, or trying new things. I wouldn't get to find out you are stricter than me with young cadets or that you love birds, or that you are in a youth group, or that make funny videos. All of that is because I don't mark you on your athletic ability only. Indeed.. even if that was the primary focus there is loads of research about the need to record scores and goals to improve one's fitness and athletic ability so the blogs would be back in. :) Thanks for sharing so much in the end… even if you pretended you hate me. I gave you 43 for the first two pillars and 30 for blogging the videos and including bike rides, leadership experiences, brownies, and cadets. :) I hope you learn to open your mind to the value others (even those different and seemingly stupid) can bring to your life and to forgive yourself your shortcomings so you can be more comfortable with your efforts instead of your results. :)
